Trip to Kumbhalgarh 7-26-2011

I skipped two great days and will catch them up later. Meanwhile on Tuesday. . .
Today we woke up to blue skies in the middle of monsoon season. The weather goddess is truly on board for this trip. We had a great breakfast, enjoying the incredible view from the Devi Garh restaurant. Then at 9:30 our driver was waiting to take us to Kumbhalgarh Fort. The fort has a 38 km wall, second only to the Great Wall of China. After a very scenic mountainous drive, our driver stopped short of the fort for us to take pix with it in the background. It was then that we realized we had forgotten to recharge the battery and it was dead. So, the rest of the day, we took pictures with my iPad. That was kind of strange but the random Indians we met loved it because we could take pix of them and they could look at them on the large screen. The rural Indians are fascinated to see their digital images. Anyway, the fort was substantial and we walked all the way to the top. The views were incredible.  I will try to put up pix.
